Saguaro was a brand I envisioned years ago. It has gone through several iterations, as shown below.

Originally I wanted to go for a retro cigarette / match company. The effect was difficult to complete as I did not fully understand the weathering process or the Photoshopping of images well.

The rear of the coaster is the same for each design. This is the original Photoshop colour palette colouring. It gets the point across, but looks terrible.

Here I chose a similar colour theme, but less violent.

After some work with the Adobe online colour scheme picker, I landed on some desaturated colours that more or less evoke a wild west theme.

These two designs are a little more adventurous than the others, but they turned out decently. I enjoyed working with symmetry as both these images are symmetric in real life—more or less.

These are my two favourite designs; they most evoke the Arizona desert for me. Their colour palettes are the opposite of each other; midnight and midday. I plan to get these coasters printed, barring prohibitive costs. Ideally they would have a letterpress effect on all the black lines, but this would be very expensive in small batches.
